What is Roots and Reps?
Roots and Reps are group fitness sessions in the stunning grounds of one of London's Royal Parks, Bushy Park in Hampton Court, that not only support the communities surrounding Bushy, but also the park itself. Roots and Reps is a safe and all-inclusive group class where you can join whatever your ability, background or culture, and one where community means everything. Our community is not only strong and committed, but also supportive. We don't put each other down, we pull each other other up.

When you train with Roots and Reps you not only get fit and strong with a group of like-minded warriors, you also support conservation efforts within this very special park. Each year we will be donating a percentage of our profits back into conservation efforts within the park, meaning when you train you make a difference.
​
The preservation of this stunning, but ecologically important park, is paramount to us, and a strict policy of 'leave it better than you found it' will be in place. This means all instructors will carry a rubbish bag and we will clear as we go, whilst also ensuring our impact on the park is minimal.

Why join?
The benefits of exercise for our physical and mental health are well known, but these are increased ten fold when you train outside in nature, especially in a place as biodiverse as Bushy Park. These benefits are multiplied again when training with such an incredible community, whilst also giving back to the park. What's not to love?

Roots and Reps sessions are designed to be fun, yet challenging whatever your fitness ability, and with a real focus on exercise form and technique, you will no doubt see huge progress in your fitness journey. No two sessions are the same and each one has a unique blend of bodyweight strength exercises, hiit, mobility and cardio. Once a month the kit comes out and your session will include strength work with power bags, kettle bells, dumbbells and more.

Roots and Reps are proud to be an all inclusive fitness group and will not only be working with local groups to diversify fitness within Bushy Park, but will also be providing a weekly free class for children and young people with SEND. On top of this, we believe that your financial situation shouldn't be a barrier to you exercising, and will therefore be offering a number of free memberships and class spaces for low income households. The history of Bushy Park can be traced back to the Tudor times when King Henry VIII used it as a hunting ground. Today, it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and home to herds of both red and fallow deer and a wide range of birds from kestrels through to green woodpeckers. It is also an important habitat for many invertebrate, including the globally threatened stag beetle.
​
The park is over 1,000 acres and has a rich range habitats including woodland, wetland and acid grassland as well as being home to some incredible ancient trees. We are truly privileged to be able to train in such a stunning and flourishing environment - it is therefore important that we do what we can to protect it.
