WELCOME!

Hello my name is Dermot, otherwise known as Dfit and I have been a personal trainer for 8 years now. My fitness journey really started when I joined the Army Reserve back in 2013, and since then I haven't looked back.

I qualified as a PT back in 2018, first working for British Military Fitness, whilst also building up a PT client base. During this period I was starting to develop a real passion for Calisthenics (bodyweight exercises) and whilst learning to master my own bodyweight, I also took great pleasure in teaching other people to do the same. I have since qualified as a Calisthenics instructor with Calisthenics Pro. I have taught people how to do their first pull ups and press ups through to advanced bodyweight exercises such as the human flag, and everything in between.

Another passion of mine is working with children and young people with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and/or physical disabilities, which I have been doing since 2020. I have worked with many young people with a range of needs including ASD, PDA, dyspraxia, brain injuries, sensory and emotional disregulation, Tourettes and Cerebral Palsy.

I am also huge nature lover and in 2018 I had the opportunity to go to South Africa to support Anti-Poaching efforts in the Kruger National Park. The following year I went to Nambiti Private Game Reserve to deliver a training package for the reserve's Anti-Poaching Unit. I was the lead PT instructor and planned and delivered a 2 week fitness programme for them.

I returned again in April of 2025, alongside Pete from BoxClever, to deliver another PT specific training programme for the rangers, which included a mix of running, strength work, battle pt, calisthenics and boxing. Combining my two passions of conservation and fitness has been a dream come true for me.

I am also the co-founder of Connected Planet Foundation, a UK-based charity that supports community conservation programmes across Africa. Our goal is to connect communities to nature, and so far we have funded trips for over 1000 children into their local wildlife reserves, places such as the Kruger National Park. For the vast majority of children, these trips are their first time visiting the wildlife reserves on their doorstep.

I love spending time in nature and will often do my training outdoors. I am a committed vegan with a firm belief in the power of community. I love that through my work I am able to build a community, support people's mental and physical health, and support conservation efforts for our planet. It really is the dream job.
